Lloyd Roach for Atlantic Division Vice Director





Military Service

From 1962 to 1968 Lloyd served in the U. S. Navy as a Radioman Second Class (E5) aboard the U.S.S. Page County (LST-1076).

While aboard the ship, he operated K3QNT/MM as a health and welfare station for the crew and embarked Marines. 

The Page County was the only LST sent from the West Coast to participate in the planned invasion during the Cuban Missile Crises. Lloyd later called on dozens of ports in the Central and Western Pacific. 

He was separated from active duty on Shemya Island, Alaska. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Medal for his naval service.




Professional Career

K3QNT spent over 50 years in radio broadcasting as a Sales Manager, General Manager and owner. 

He successfully managed FM radio stations in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Harrisburg and Fort Wayne, IN. He was the CEO/Owner of a West Chester, PA based radio company that operated 12 AM and FM radio stations. 

He endeavored throughout his career to hire and promote amateur radio operators. All of the Chief Engineers of his stations were Hams.
